Toyota Debuts Stylish Electric Sport Crossover Concept in Europe, a Collaborative Project with BYD, Set to Hit the Market in 2025.
The electric Sport Crossover by Toyota was initially showcased at Auto Shanghai in April.
Featuring five doors and ample room for both rear passengers and cargo, the concept provides a “stylish alternative” to traditional SUVs.
BYD Toyota EV Tech Co, a collaborative effort between Toyota and China’s premier EV manufacturer BYD, is responsible for crafting the electric Toyota Sport Crossover.
Toyota and BYD jointly introduced the bZ3 electric vehicle in China, utilizing Toyota’s e-TNGA platform shared with the bZ4X electric SUV.
While the platform is Toyota’s, BYD contributes with its Blade LFP batteries, electric motor, and control system.
The upcoming EV concept is expected to adopt a comparable configuration. Toyota has affirmed that the electric Sport Crossover will be among the five new EVs scheduled for launch in Europe by 2026.
Toyota anticipates that 20% of its European sales will be all-electric by 2026, amounting to over 250,000 vehicles annually. The automaker emphasizes that a diverse portfolio is instrumental in advancing toward complete carbon neutrality by 2040.
