The recently launched Tesla Cybertruck has received official approval for the $7,500 federal tax credit in 2023.
Per information from the U.S. Department of Energy, relying on Internal Revenue Service data as of December 7, 2023, two Tesla Cybertruck models are eligible for the complete $7,500 incentive: the all-wheel-drive variant and the high-end tri-motor Cyberbeast version. The rear-wheel-drive version, slated for 2025, has not been included in the list, with further details expected in the future.
The eligibility criterion for the incentive is limited to pickup trucks priced below $80,000, a pivotal factor considering that none of the Cybertrucks sold in 2023 may satisfy this condition.
As per Tesla’s website, the initial Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast is priced at $99,990. The Tesla Cybertruck AWD, potentially eligible for the incentive at an estimated $79,990, is set to begin deliveries in 2024. Consequently, no tax credit for Cybertrucks may be available this year. Estimated Tesla Cybertruck prices (MSRP) include RWD at $60,990 (in 2025), AWD at $79,990 (in 2024), and Cyberbeast at $99,990 (in late 2023). Notably, while the Cyberbeast, exceeding the price cap, is listed by the IRS, the similarly costly Tesla Model X Plaid is absent, unlike the more affordable Tesla Model X Long Range AWD.
