Toyota’s upcoming Urban electric SUV Concept aims to rival Volvo’s EX30 as the most affordable EV in the brand’s lineup, signaling the arrival of more budget-friendly electric vehicles.

On Monday, Toyota revealed the Urban electric SUV concept at its Kenshiki forum in Brussels. This concept, part of Toyota’s plan for five new electric models in Europe by 2026, is described as a “close-to-production” design, set to launch as a new EV next year.

Upon its release, the Toyota Urban electric SUV will be offered with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options.

Toyota asserts that it has optimized interior space, ensuring versatile accommodation for passengers or cargo.

Customers will have the option to select from two different batteries, with one prioritizing affordability and the other providing extended range.

The company’s goal is to boost the range by 20% and reduce costs by 40% compared to the existing bZ4X model.

In Europe, the EX30 is available in three powertrain options (€33,795 – €40,995) and boasts a combined range of up to 295.8 miles. In the US, the electric SUV offers two powertrain choices with a maximum range of 275 miles.
