Xiaomi has launched its inaugural electric car, the Xiaomi SU7 sedan. With an 875 V charging system and a 101 kWh CATL battery, it achieves an impressive 800 km range. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) version boasts 475 kW, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and reaching a top speed of 265 km/h.

Su7 EVXiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed the company’s foray into car manufacturing on March 30, 2021, with a commitment of 10 billion yuan (1.4 billion USD) investment in the venture. The conference occurred 1003 days after Xiaomi’s initial announcement. The company plans to start mass production of the Xiaomi SU7 in the first half of 2024. Leaked spy shots and testing videos of the SU7 surfaced in late 2023, and in November, MIIT disclosed Xiaomi’s application for a sales license in China, revealing key car specifications.

Xiaomi’s SU7 boasts exceptional aerodynamics, with a low drag coefficient of 0.195 Cd, the lowest among production vehicles. Lei Jun highlighted the lidar’s design inspiration from a pebble’s smoothness, although the showcased model reaching 0.195 Cd in the video is without lidar.

Built on Xiaomi’s Modena platform, the SU7 is slightly longer than the Porsche Taycan, measuring 4997/1963/1455 mm (L/W/H), with a 3000 mm wheelbase. It features a spacious 105-liter frunk and a 517-liter boot space.
