Ola Electric launched their first electric scooter, the S1, in 2020, followed by the S1 Air in 2021. Construction of their “Futurefactory” in Tamil Nadu, India, began in 2021, aiming to become the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturing facility. Despite initial challenges with production delays and quality concerns, Ola Electric achieved strong sales, securing a significant market share.

The groundbreaking ceremony for their “Gigafactory” took place in 2023, and the unveiling of their upcoming electric car generated excitement in the market. Ola Electric reported strong sales for their S1 and S1 Air electric scooters in January 2024, holding a 40% market share in the Indian e-scooter segment. Despite facing controversy with layoffs and executive departures, Ola Electric managed to maintain sustained consumer interest.
