Simple has launched its new Wave electric scooter, and it’s coming with four different battery options. You can pick between a 5 kWh, 3.7 kWh, 2.7 kWh, or 2.2 kWh battery pack. The starting price for this scooter is ₹1,10,000 (ex-showroom).

Pricing & Variants

This starting price applies to the base variant. The pricing for the higher-spec variants hasn’t been officially unveiled by the company just yet.

Build Quality & Key System

Starting with the ignition, Simple skipped the keyless setup—you won’t find a smart key here. Instead, you get a traditional manual key. Turn the physical key to start the scooter. Beyond that, the overall build quality feels solid and well-constructed.

Smart Lighting Features

One standout car-like feature included is Follow-Me-Home headlamps. When you park and turn off the scooter, the headlights stay illuminated for a few moments to light your path. When you switch off the scooter, the headlamps remain on for a short time to help guide your way in the dark. Moving down, you’ll find built-in Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The turn indicators are positioned higher up and double as hazard lamps.

Design & Colors

The rear-view mirrors sport a sleek, well-designed look that matches the body profile. Simple offers the scooter in five distinct color options: White, Black, Sky Blue, Red, and Grey.

Suspension & Tires

The scooter comes equipped with stylish diamond-cut alloy wheels. Up front, it features a traditional telescopic suspension rather than an upside-down (USD) fork setup. Additionally, it rides on tubeless tires for better puncture protection.

Tyres, Braking & Clearance

The scooter comes with 90/90-12-inch tyres and features a Combined Braking System (CBS) for efficient stopping. It offers a solid 175 mm ground clearance, giving it a sturdy stance—unlike many electric scooters that feel lightweight or unsubstantial from certain angles, this one looks good from every perspective.

Drivetrain & Rear Suspension

Underneath, it relies on a chain drive system rather than a belt drive, matched with the same 90/90-12-inch tyre size at the rear. For rear suspension, instead of a traditional monoshock, it features dual shock absorbers on both sides to provide better load stability for two-up riding.

Payload Capacity & Seating Comfort

The dual suspension setup allows it to handle heavy loads, offering a generous payload capacity of up to 180 kg. It also gets one of the longest seats in its segment at 920 mm, giving plenty of room for both rider and pillion.

Seat Height & Accessibility

With a seat height of 775 mm, it is quite accessible—a rider standing around 5’7″ can put their feet down comfortably and manage the scooter with ease.

Rear Profile & Accessories

At the back, the grab rail is positioned nearly flush, so adding a proper backrest with cushioning will require aftermarket or official accessories. Finishing off the rear design are an LED tail lamp setup and the standard number plate housing below it.

Body Construction & Braking

The entire body of the scooter is constructed from plastic panels, featuring a clean front number plate placement. For stopping power, it gets a front disc brake paired with a rear drum brake.

Footrests & Accessories

Standard foldable footpegs are built-in for the pillion. If you need a side-step ladies’ footrest, that’s available as an additional accessory.

Utility & Front Storage

On the front inner panel, you get a push-to-open glove box storage compartment reminiscent of classic scooter designs, perfect for stashing small items on the go.

Front Storage & Utility

The front storage opens up just like classic vintage scooters. It gives you convenient utility space to hold small items, vehicle documents, or a half-liter water bottle. This cubby is on one side—the second side remains plain, though additional front storage accessories are available. Right nearby, you’ll also notice the distinct ‘Simple Wave’ branding.

Under-Seat Storage Capacity

The main standout feature is the massive under-seat boot space. Pop open the seat, and you get a huge 70-liter boot—easily large enough to fit two full-size helmets. Simple has also included a dedicated boot lamp inside to make loading items at night effortless.

Beyond the spacious under-seat boot space, the cockpit is packed with everyday practical features. Up front, you get a dedicated charging lead alongside convenient luggage hooks to carry your daily bags easily.

Display & Interface

Moving to the dashboard, Simple skipped the touchscreen in favor of a clear 7-inch TFT display. The screen runs a clean interface and supports dark mode themes for easier night reading.

Switchgear & Navigation

To operate the display UI, you use a multi-directional joystick located on the lower switchgear. Next to it, you’ll also find the dedicated toggle switch to turn off the hazard lamps.

Display Brightness & Battery Status

The 7-inch display gets plenty bright, making it easily readable under direct sunlight. At a 96% state of charge, the instrument cluster displays the estimated remaining range right on the main screen.

Switchgear Layout

The handlebar layout is neatly organized: on the left side, you’ll find controls for light adjustments, the joystick for menu navigation, the turn signal switch, and a single horn button. On the right, you get the start button alongside the riding mode toggles.

Riding Modes & Features

The scooter comes equipped with three distinct riding modes:

• Eco Mode: Maximize your range for daily city commutes.
• Ride Mode: Balanced power delivery for everyday traffic.
• Sports Mode: Instant throttle response and peak power.

It also includes a convenient Reverse Mode to make backing out of tight parking spots simple and effortless.

Design & Stand Options

Overall, the scooter presents a clean and modern design profile. It comes equipped with a side stand as standard. While a main center stand isn’t included out of the factory, you can opt for it as an additional official accessory.

Motor Performance & Speed

Powering the scooter is an electric motor that pushes out 8.5 bhp (6.3 kW) of peak power and 17.6 Nm of torque. While many standard electric scooters cap out around 70 km/h or 80 km/h, this one easily crosses a top speed of 90 km/h.
