China Orders Record 4.3 Million-Vehicle Recall Over EV Door-Handle Safety Concerns

China has ordered a massive recall covering around 4.3 million vehicles from nine automakers, including Tesla, Xiaomi and Leapmotor, as regulators tighten safety requirements for electronic door-opening systems.

The recall is focused on a potential emergency-exit problem. In some vehicles, occupants may struggle to locate or operate the manual door-release mechanism if the vehicle loses electrical power.
