Following the success of the Zeekr 007, the automaker aims to continue its growth with the mid-life upgrade of its first vehicle, the Zeekr 001, which was initially released in 2021. Here are more details on the upcoming update.
Enhanced Specifications
The revised Zeekr 001 addresses some of the original model’s limitations. One notable improvement is the addition of 800V electrical architecture, which was designed for Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform by CEVT in Europe. This upgrade will significantly reduce recharging times.
Another significant enhancement is the inclusion of Lidar technology, which was not available in the initial release but is now becoming standard in this price bracket. This addition will significantly improve the vehicle’s Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) capabilities. Additionally, the upgrade features a wide-screen 35.5-inch augmented reality head-up display, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 chip, the company’s flagship fourth-generation chip, enabling comprehensive AI-driven voice control.
Design Updates
The updated Zeekr 001 has a more aggressive appearance, resembling the newer Zeekr 001 FR versions, with a similar front. The lower front air vents are wider, and the deflector grooves are larger. The new model also offers options such as orange brake calipers and a tow hook, with a 2-ton towing capacity. Dimensionally, the revised car is slightly larger, measuring 4977/1999/1545 mm (length/width/height), with a 3005mm wheelbase, making it longer and lower than the original model.
Interior Enhancements
The interior of the Zeekr 001 upgrade features improved material quality, with touches like a suede-covered wireless charging area and a new three-spoke steering wheel. The center screen is now a 15.05-inch 2.5K OLED unit, ad the car offers a 5D viewing mode that can replicate various environmental elements, such as wind. The seats also vibrate to the music, similar to the XPeng G9.
Powertrain and Battery
The Zeekr 001 update boasts a considerable power increase, with the original model’s 200 kW motors replaced by the 310 kW (440 Nm torque) silicon carbide rear motor used in the Zeekr 007. All-wheel-drive versions also feature a 270 kW motor in the front axle. The performance version accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.3 seconds.
The vehicle is equipped with Qilin batteries from CATL, available in 95 kWh and 100 kWh packs. The smaller pack can charge from 10-80% in 11.5 minutes, providing 722 km of range in the rear-wheel-drive version or 626 km in the performance model. The 100 kWh pack charges slightly slower, taking 15 minutes, and offers up to 750 km CLTC in the rear-wheel-drive version or 656 km for the all-wheel-drive.
Launch Offers
To mark the launch of the updated Zeekr 001, the company is offering a 10,000 yuan (approximately 1,400 USD) discount on the final price for purchases made before March 31, making the vehicle an even better value proposition. The entry-level Zeekr 001 with 544 hp and 546 km of CLTC range costs 269,000 yuan (37,180 USD) in China.
