Porsche Macan EV: The Electric SUV We’ve All Been Waiting For
Porsche is gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated all-electric Macan EV on January 25, 2024. After a delay of over two years, we are finally going to see what this electric SUV has to offer. With the success of its first EV, the Porsche Taycan, Porsche is now preparing to enter a new segment and expand its electric lineup.
The all-electric Macan EV is poised to become a significant player in the electric SUV market, following the success of the gas-powered Macan, which was Porsche’s top-selling SUV globally last year. In 2023, Porsche delivered 87,300 Macans, more than double the number of Taycan models.
Porsche teased the Macan EV on its website, confirming the unveiling date. The electric SUV promises to be the sportiest in its segment, offering over 600 hp, track skills, and impressive off-road capabilities. Porsche has been testing prototype models in various terrains, and we will finally see the production version next week.
The Macan EV boasts a drag coefficient of just 0.25, making it one of the most aerodynamic SUVs. Combined with a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery and design improvements, the electric SUV is expected to offer over 310 miles (500 km) WLTP range across all trims.
As the first Porsche car built on the new PPE platform, the Macan EV delivers a unique experience and offers fast charging of up to 270kW, enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in under 22 minutes.
The electric SUV also features Porsche’s latest PSM motors on the front and rear axles, which generate over 600 horsepower (450 kW) and control 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque (with launch control). To handle any terrain, the Macan EV includes an Active Suspension Management system with two-valve damper tech, air suspension, and rear-axle transverse lock.
The interior of the Macan EV will feature plenty of physical buttons, three screens, and an AR head-up display. Orders for the electric SUV are expected to begin soon, so stay tuned for the official unveiling on January 25, 2024.
