Two Tesla Model Y vehicles were damaged in arson attacks in San Francisco’s SoMa district on the same night, just one block apart. The incidents occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of Shipley and 4th Streets.

Surveillance footage captured a person, believed to be a man wearing a hoodie and carrying bags, setting fire to the front passenger tire of a white Model Y. The car belonged to Van Vuong, who had planned to use it to go play tennis.

Another Model Y, owned by Joanne Baker, was targeted around 30 minutes before Vuong’s car was set on fire. Both vehicles were 2020 models and were completely destroyed in the attacks.

The San Francisco Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the arsonist, but the video footage is not of high quality. Some Tesla owners in the area have decided to park in garages until the suspect is caught. Anyone with information on the arson attacks is encouraged to contact the San Francisco Police Department.
