Li Auto Unveils Its Mega MPV:
Li Auto has released more information about its first-ever all-electric model, the Mega MPV, which is set to launch on March 1 in China. The official video offers a closer look at the vehicle’s interior.
The Mega MPV’s interior design takes inspiration from Li Auto’s L series of SUVs. The driver’s area features an augmented reality head-up display and a multi-functional steering wheel, eliminating the need for an instrument panel. The steering wheel has a small 4.82-inch display embedded in it. The air conditioning outlets, wireless charging panels, cup holders, and other design elements are similar to those in the L series. However, the center-mounted screen is said to be improved for better visibility.
The Mega MPV follows a 2+2+3 seating arrangement, positioning itself as a mobile living space. Similar to the L9, the Mega MPV has a foldable ceiling screen on the roof between the first and second rows. Additionally, there is a small airline-style fold-down tray on the back of the front passenger seat for the second row.
The Mega MPV’s second-row seats are where it stands out. The two large captain-style seats come with adjustable leg rests, a 95° backrest reclining angle, and 500 mm of movement backwards and forwards. These seats offer a SPA level 16-point massage function, with six points on the cushion and ten on the backrest. They also feature a new 270° surround heating system that covers the backrest, seat cushion, leg rest, armrest, and other areas. Additionally, the seats come with a 50W active cooling wireless mobile charging pad. Despite having a 532 mm seat cushion and 115 mm wide armrest, there is still enough space in the center tunnel for easy third-row access.
The third row is a standard layout for an MPV but is more comfortable. The cushion length is 530 mm, and the backrest height is 613 mm, which is claimed to be better than a D-segment executive sedan. All three seats in the third row are heated and have rake adjustment of 22-36°. The whole third row can fold forward electrically, expanding luggage capacity and increasing the depth of the space from 680 mm to 1,066 mm.
The Li Mega MPV measures 5350/1965/1850 mm, with a wheelbase of 3300 mm, making it a massive vehicle. Surprisingly, the Mega MPV has a drag coefficient of 0.215Cd, which is impressive for an MPV. This aerodynamic design enables the Mega MPV to achieve a 710 km CLTC range with a 102.7 kWh Qilin 5C battery pack from CATL. The Mega MPV also supports ultra-fast charging using 800V architecture, with a peak charging of 552 kW. This means that 500 km of range can be added in just 12 minutes.
Powering the Mega MPV is a 155 kW front and 245 kW rear motor, providing a combined torque of 542 Nm. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.5 seconds. Although the official price has not been announced yet, it is known that it will not exceed 600,000 yuan (83,400 USD). Li Auto CEO, Li Xiang, has stated that he expects the Mega MPV to become a big seller.
