Subaru has revealed the pricing and updates for the 2024 Subaru Solterra, its second model year in the all-electric segment. Boasting new features, the Solterra continues to make strides in the EV market, offering three distinct versions—Premium, Limited, and Touring. While the pricing structure remains unchanged, the 2024 model introduces enhancements that focus on comfort, safety, and charging efficiency.
Pricing and Availability:
The 2024 Subaru Solterra will maintain its three-tier lineup—Premium, Limited, and Touring. Interestingly, Subaru has kept the pricing consistent across the range, with only a slight increase in the destination charge by $120. The Solterra Premium starts at $46,340, the Limited at $49,840, and the Touring at $53,340. Notably, the Solterra, being imported from Japan, doesn’t qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit, though leasing options may still offer incentives.
Specifications and Range:
Powered by a 72.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack utilizing CATL’s lithium-ion cells, the 2024 Solterra maintains its impressive specifications. The Premium version boasts a range of 227 miles, while the Limited and Touring versions offer slightly reduced ranges of 222 miles. The energy consumption figures, including charging losses, reveal a slight increase for the 20-inch wheel trims.
– Premium AWD 18-inch: 227 miles range, 104 MPGe
– Limited AWD 20-inch: 222 miles range, 102 MPGe
– Touring AWD 20-inch: 222 miles range (MPGe figures not specified)
Charging Capabilities:
One of the most significant improvements for the 2024 Solterra is the enhanced DC fast charging capability. The introduction of a more robust battery conditioning system allows the Solterra to recharge from 10-80% state-of-charge in just 35 minutes at up to 100 kW, significantly improving upon the 2023 model’s 56-minute charging time. The new thermal management system also facilitates faster charging in below-freezing temperatures.
New Features:
The 2024 Solterra introduces several enhanced features to elevate comfort, driver safety, and versatility. Notable additions include:
1. Standard Subaru EyeSight driver-assist technologies, allowing hands-free driving at speeds up to 25 mph.
2. Redesigned steering wheel with regenerative braking force paddle switches.
3. Standard roof rails with a static load capacity of up to 700 pounds and a dynamic load capacity of up to 176 pounds.
4. Front Cross-Traffic Alert and the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System.
5. Lane change assistance through the activation of a turn signal.
The Solterra is also equipped with a 12.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen for infotainment, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, and five USB charge points.
As the first all-electric Subaru in the U.S. market, the 2024 Solterra aims to enhance its appeal with these updates, providing customers with an efficient, feature-rich, and environmentally conscious driving experience. The model is set to arrive at Subaru dealerships in February 2024, marking another step in Subaru’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
